An Island So Small We Missed It… Almost

One day we’ll be able to say: “Hey, remember that time we got on a ferry to go to an island and didn’t get off in time because they only give you 5 minutes so we missed our port and had to sit on an empty ferry on another island for 1 hour and 50 minutes until it made its rounds back again?!?!” Yeah… a 30 minute ferry ride quickly turned into a 3 hour trip… BUT it got us here- a place full of seaside charm, Mediterranean colors, and unique architecture- PROCIDA, the capitol of Italian culture 2022! Also known as the “island of cinema,” it’s where both “The Postman” and “The Talented Mr.Ripley” were filmed. We walked along the port where I found a local cookbook and “The Postman” movie (in italiano of course); ventured into the centro storico; spent some time eating lunch in a fisherman’s village and soaking up the views; and ending the day with a coffee and a “Lingua-” a local speciality consisting of a pastry filled with cream! Here is some of the beauty of an island so small that we almost missed it completely:

Our roots will forever be from here, America, born and raised. Yet, life requires us to move more frequently than we care to count. Whether living stateside or abroad, you can always find us traveling somewhere. We scout out places that you only think you can dream of one day seeing and we seek out those that aren’t found in guidebooks. We then bring them to life here in our travel memos, so hopefully, one day you too can visit them or at least be able to live vicariously through us. This blog isn’t just about crossing off places from a bucket list. It’s about absorbing and learning how other cultures grow and fit into the same world that we do. Life is short and the world is big. Enjoy and get out there!
