Admit Two

Bucket list item: Attend an Italian opera.

One Friday night: Attended an Italian opera, in Italy, in the oldest public venue in the world (opened in 1737!!)!!

Honestly, moving to this country during a pandemic did not give me high hopes that this dream would be a reality in the few short years that I would be here. Things with Covid always seemed to get more complicated instead of better or easier. And yet, somehow, shows started performing and theaters began opening again! That only meant one thing: snagging tickets for a girls night at the opera in downtown Naples!

A dazzling night absorbing the acoustics of the Teatro di San Carlo in the comical production of Così Fan Tutte. A story written by Mozart about women’s faithfulness against disguises and deceptions. My only complaint was the cast wearing masks during the performance (unless they were singing). Theater is all about expression. It was a little hard to grasp some of that with people’s faces covered. Nonetheless, a brilliant and fun performance! And, I mean, check out this building <swoon>!!

Our roots will forever be from here, America, born and raised. Yet, life requires us to move more frequently than we care to count. Whether living stateside or abroad, you can always find us traveling somewhere. We scout out places that you only think you can dream of one day seeing and we seek out those that aren’t found in guidebooks. We then bring them to life here in our travel memos, so hopefully, one day you too can visit them or at least be able to live vicariously through us. This blog isn’t just about crossing off places from a bucket list. It’s about absorbing and learning how other cultures grow and fit into the same world that we do. Life is short and the world is big. Enjoy and get out there!
